Right and Wrong – Two sides of a flip card?
‘Wrong’ its one of the first concept we are taught! Almost our entire childhood is spent learning ‘Right’ from ‘Wrong’. And yet as we step into adulthood. We realize, we may never really know the difference completely. There are no fixed boundaries. And what’s ‘Right’ to one, seems ‘wrong’ to another. Its all a matter of where you are perched? Whats your vantage point? What’s your perspective? At that moment
Here are two short verses. Interpreting the theme ‘wrong’.
Verse One
chasing dreams
is what
you were born to do
said mom
when I was a child
now, many years past
I wish to ask
Mom, is it not wrong
to break hearts
blindly rushing along
chasing dreams
OR
Verse Two
chasing dreams
is what
you were born to do
I know
but
is it fair
to have no care
for the hearts you break
relationships you stake
while blindly
chasing dreams
As you see, they are both almost the same. Which one do you prefer?

Nice interpretation of the theme!
thank you Inge…. Am so touched by your constant encouragement!
well done…..i like the comparison of the versus….bueno insight my friend
Thank you! But you give me more credit than I deserve. The comparison wasn’t intended. Two verses poured out when I wrote and I didn’t have the patience or time to choose one
so it was laziness more than insight
I can only say, I am glad for my laziness! Thanks much for stopping by !
Extremely imaginative entry for the challenge. The poems remind me of a palindrome.
Very nice …!!!!
Thank you for the pingback. It is greatly apprecaited.
Isadora
Glad you liked them isadora! Last week at we write prompts the challenge was to write a poem that begins and ends with the same words. I am having a hangover I guess
great “Wrong” post. as we get older we realize that there is no right or wrong, only what is best for us.
thanks for the pingback!
that’s true. One of the biggest realizations for me
i think it defines adulthood. recognizing and respecting the grays. Thanks for stopping by
It is a real hard truth.. stares us all in our faces yet we chose to ignore.. I agree, we never really know what is wrong or what is right. I like to believe nothing is wrong or right as such, whatever happens is all pre-decided. What we think or do in our terrestrial lives has very tiny significance in this celestial scheme of the universe.
bdw, Sorry. I am being unable to visit my beloved bloggers coz I am a bit busy..
I shall be coming back with regular blogging as soon as I finish the jobs at hand. Till then, take care!
that’s what Hindu philosophy revolves around Somesh – the idea of karma and fate! Thanks for the visit! hope the work at hand completes soon so we can see you here more often again
i have always said this..
Right and wrong are subjective
What is right to one, seems so wrong to another…
People kill people and they still feel that they did the right thing..terrorists for eg…their minds have been brainwashed to believe that they are doing the right thing. When we all can so clearly see that it’s wrong.. But they cant seem to differentiate. they think they are doing the right thing..
An uneducated woman who treats her DIL badly, seems to think she is doing the right thing. That she is just disciplining her. But to you and me, she is doing wrong.
It all boils down to education and openness of our minds, the ability to be tolerant and to accept the differences and to ability to co-exist.
But yes, we need to have some general sense to distinguish the obvious wrongs from rights.
I agree Zinal (is your name Zinal? Never heard that before! What does it mean?) the ability to tolerate differences is necessary but to know how much to tolerate is also necessary. striking a balance – there in lies the challenge.
Thats my real name

It doesnt mean anything.. okay now dont smirk
But if you just HAVE to know, its a town in Switzerland. But i guess that is hardly the reason why my parents named me Zinal. Heck they wouldnt even know back then
Yes, its unusual. I know
BTW, years ago, when i barely out of my teens, i wrote this book, ‘She is not an MBA’. You can google for it.
wow! so you’re an official writer:) will definitely check this out
Just FYI
