Weekly Photo challenge : “Happy” – with a tinge of sad

Yes

I remember the days

when I could be happy like mad

when I was carefree

and content

and perpetually glad

but that seems such a long while back

Now

its not that

I am always sad

there are days

when I ride the ecstasy cab

when I whistle to a birdsong

and break into a dance

when I look up at God and send a note of thanks

But its not the same

since losing you

my ‘happy’

is forever tinged with sad

I know this was suppose to be a multi- photo challenge! but caught up with WP posts after ages! Saw the ‘happy challenge’ and these lines just wouldn’t be canned! For the record I love the new grid photograph option. And promise to use it! with an actual ‘happy ‘ post with tons of photographs. That will be tomorrow but, today I must sleep!

I liked this because those are good words well-written…I don’t like that you are sad and a time will come (and you will know when it is) that you can again be ‘happy like mad’ without reservation…

Thanks for the PB. I like your poem. It’s kind if an upbeat sad. Huh?
Well, try smiling, anyway. It doesn’t fix, but it helps.

Love the use of sound in this poem. And I love your variation on the challenge, as well! It’s much more realistic than plain-old “happy.”

I share your thoughts. I admire the honest and truthness in it. Beautiful and passionate. Yes, there was a time I was happy too almost constantly….I realized that is when I was just a boy, with no worries, all play, adventures and so enthusiastic with everything. I guess adulthood somehow ruins the magic but even then we need to constantly try to find it even if it’s no as lasting as it was…and yes, sad days are there as well.
