I remain still

Ignoring the throb in my shoulder

Outside to the occasional

Piercing wail of  passing trains

Adds the buzz, whir and vroom of engines

As the city wakes up to life

The dog begins to bark

Whining to be let out

Its time for his walk

The ‘needy’ morning demands to be let in

With its long list of chores

I lie on – ‘unstirred’

Watching him slumber

His head rests on my shoulder

A plump arm thrown across my chest

He snuggles into me closer

Unexpectedly – breaking into a bubbly chuckle

The laugh lights up his sleeping baby face

I clutch on to the moment

Before it flaps away

Filing it away meticulously

A precious memory

To shield me

From the troubles of the day

Treasuring memories like that is truly a protective shield and works as an energy booster when things are a bit down than normal 🙂
    It’s positivism.
