Weekly photo Challenge: “Solitary” – To loneliness

24 Sep

Morning sun beams

awakening me from a  dream

its giddy happiness

leaves me sad

A tap at  the door

beckons me

rushing to let  in

the harsh wind

Its noisy greeting

mocks my eagerness

The shrill ring

of the telephone

promises conversations

the words

hushed in my throat

by a stranger

deepens my  silence

Tuning the radio

a song from  the past

floods me

the crowded memories

enhance

my solitude

Everyday
- every night

more deserted

more forlorn

the togetherness that was

makes me

lonelier

Finding

a soul-mate

brings bliss

but losing one

leaves me

even more desolate

 solitary!

Solitary

Only after loving and losing does one truly understand ‘lonely’. One who hasn’t loved though alone is never really ‘lonely’…..

It’s better to have loved and lost, then never loved at all. Heartbreak is tough. Recovery even tougher. As solitary as it feels, I wonder if we are ever truly alone, as we always have ourselves for comfort. :-)

such a lovely thought! Its true we always have ourselves. And yes, I agree, better to love and lose than never love at all. Thanks Angelia for such wise words

Lovely poem to accompany a bitter-sweet photo. It’s a perfect response to the challenge, it seems to me.

A very moving post. Indeed finding love is a joy but to loose one can be a painful experience but in the end it is still a gift that we were given a chance to feel what love and bliss means.

    • justanotherwakeupcall October 3, 2012 at 6:25 am:10 #

True !!! And yet there are so many who have been so hurt that they shut themselves off. deciding they won’t love again! Preferring to avoid the pain even if it means missing on the ‘bliss’ – Right?
